Hello everybody my name is George Hower from USA in the great state of Virginia. I was introducted to this forum by my friend kiwidave. My forum name is slotnut. I mostly buy from ebay and haven't sold there yet but plan too. I have been collecting since 1972 and I'm 47 now. I collect AFX, TOMY, TYCO, Nascar lifelike, and any new in box or foriegn release cars. I really like a lot I've seen from your country in AFX,TOMY,TYCO.

My email address is slotnut@gmail.com or gghower@yahoo.com. I am always looking to buy or trade so share what you have to swap and let's work it out. I look forward to meeting all of you on this great forum and making new friends. I have enjoyed browsing your pictures and seeing some of the customs you have created.

Thanks for allowing me to join

HI GEORGE. DAN FROM KANSAS CITY HERE. DGE34US ON EBAY. I DO A LOT OF SELLING AND BUYING. I AM NOT MUCH OF A COLLECTOR. I`VE BEEN IN SLOTS FOR A HAIR OVER 4 YEARS AND AT AGE 55 I`M NOT SURE HOW MUCH AN OLD DOG CAN LEARN. I DO A LOT OF PERFORMANCE CUSTOMIZING, MOSTLY TYCO AND TOMY. IF YOU WANT TO GO FAST, I`M YOUR HUCKLEBERRY. I DO COME ACROSS COLLECTIBLE CARS AND LOTS OF PARTS FOR BODIES ON OCCASION IN MY QUEST FOR CHASSIS AND PARTS AND I LET THEM GO CHEAP, ESPECIALLY TO THE KIWIS. THEY ARE THE FINEST SORT HERE ON THIS FORUM. IF YOU ASK FOR HELP THE WHOLE GANG SHOWS UP. EMAIL IS TULL198@YAHOO.COM. TELLY IS 816-942-7191. ANYWAY THIS IS MY OPENING SPEECH. HOPE TO TALK WITH YOU SOON. DAN
PS. LIKE DAVO SAID, THE ONLY DUMB QUESTION IS THE ONE NOT ASKED.

G'day everyone, Michael here. New to this board and thought I'd poke my ugly head in and say hello.

I'm in Melbourne, Australia and so am practically neighbours with many of the punters here.

Slots began for me when I was about 8 or 9 after my younger brother and I were given an A/FX Jackie Stewart set for Christmas. Considering the hours of use and enjoyment it bought us I'd consider it the best gift the fat jolly man ever came down our chimney with. Being young we were pretty hard on the MT cars that came with the set and soon became 'hooked' on the burning oil smell associated with running those cars into the ground. To this day, that smell is still my most vivid memory of slots.........what a great smell! When the cars inevitably failed it was up to me to diagnose the problem and I remember many trips to Toyworld with my mum and brother for the all important spares. By age 10 I could completely rebuild an MT with new brushes and springs, pickups and springs, defluffing and oiling as required. I really like how the set encouraged me to learn some manual and mechanical dexterity. We had no choice really. We either taught ourselves to do it in order to race or we just stared at cars that would not move. Not much of a choice really.

Fast forward nearly 30 years and I arrive at my sister-in-laws place one day to see her 4 boys playing their spanking new Tomy AFX set. After racing with my nephews for a while I casually remarked to me S-I-L how much fun it was to race slots again after so long. Bless her soul, the following Christmas she hands me a big gift and it turns out to be a new Tomy slot set.

Hooked again! I have added various sections of track and now have about 50 foot of great track with lots of variation in radii, banks and straights. The novelty sections like loops etc aren't my thing and remain in the box. I don't have a permanent layout yet but I do have a large timber floor which hosts many races between my daughters and I. My wife won't race, just gives me a "grow up idiot" look. Ho hum.

I have about 20-25 working cars and numerous ones in various states of repair/rebuild. The cars includes A/FX MT, AW XT, Tomy Turbo, SG+ and LL M-Chassis. I'm getting into repaints and have done several bodies so far and really enjoy this extension of the hobby.

Has my bedtime story put you to sleep yet? Sorry, I tend to go on and on. Thanks to everyone who put this board together and I'll see you around.

Cheers
Michael
