Hi all, Dave, love the mini. The first car I ever purchased (as a licensed driver) was a red mini with grey roof, bonnet and doors. Granted much of the red was surface rust but the actual body was red. The poor little suck was eventually sold for it's floor pan. Damn good thing the guy who bought it was a boiler maker.........man, did he have some work to do! I digress. I wouldn't be a true Aussie if I didn't say the XY didn't catch my eye. Where did you source the body? Never seen an HO scale GT before and wouldn't mind getting my hands on one or two. Did you say "casting a Torana"? What model? Here are a couple of pics of some F1 cars I did a years or two ago. Be sure to tune into the Melbourne F1 on Sunday!!

Sorry about the ultra boring background in my pics, I really need to sort something out. Ciao Michael

I too had a red Mini! Run the poor thing into the ground. Only thing stopping the battery falling through the floor was a rubber strap the poor girl had some serious rust issues! The Falcon was cast by a dude in the States of all places. He has mentioned a Torana last time I spoke to him but hasn't got back to me yet? He sells to me through the Hobbytalk website but also sells on Ebay. If your interested I can track down his username. Well done on the F1's. That's some mint masking lines you have done there. That is not easy to get such sharp lines. I still struggle to get sharp lines. Looks like you have nailed it!

Thanks fellers.
While I prefer to drive something that offers a bit better crash protection these days, the mini was a lot of fun to drive at the time. Too much fun, I siezed the motor.
Dave, I'll have a scratch around Hobbytalk and see what I can find. If you have his eBay username at hand that would be great, otherwise I'll track him down somehow.
For getting good sharp paint lines I reckon you can't beat M3 Scotch Fine Line 471 vinyl masking tape. It's mainly used in the auto crash repair business I believe. I grabbed a couple of rolls, 3mm and 12mm from an auto paint supplier but I'm told any decent panel repairer will sell you a couple of rolls. Once I started using that, never looked back. It isn't cheap, $20-30 a roll I think. A roll would do a bucket load of bodies though. More info here
See ya round, Michael
