Post Types of cars
Ok so I have borrowed a couple of cars from a mate so that I can run the track (Tomy Aurora) that I have (til I get some cars of my own...have a couple of cheap Life Like on the way).
There is a couple of Formula 1 cars which stick to the track like glue...great if you like supersonic speeds!
There is also a couple of stock car type cars, which are from a thunderloop thriller set, which on the net says they are AFX Turbo cars.
I took the magnet out of one of the Turbo cars and had a bit more fun wheel spinning and fishtailing around the track but the car was very skittery especially in the front end.

So what types of cars are out there, what are their differences etc.
Someone mentioned magnatraction...are parts still available etc to keep them running.

Xtraction, thunderjet, johnny lightning?????????? Pancake motors???????????

What cars do you guys like and run...

Azz

Hey Azz

Im sure some of these old hands can throw some light on the subject.

I'm into the speed & just how damn fast u can squeeze a lap out of em. U may have seen my track in the postings previously

A std tomy turbo car is about 11 sec & the new tomy sg+ F1/Indy cars do about 8.5-9sec.

I have a modified beast that will do a 7.2 lap (one of my own mods i might add also  ) and someone here will be stoked to know that its a Tyco  .

But I am still looking forward to our friend Dan to do another "special run" of his untouchable cars, as i would happily own something that would piss all over some of these "high end"cars that are available once in a while.

So Tomy cars - turbo, sg , sg+ & Tyco 440 & 440x2 is all I will run ( A few others for the kids too though)

So im sure i have not helped at all, but the others will put thier knowledge to good use & let you know.

The F1 cars are probably AFX Tomy Super G plus(SG+). Removing the magnets will give the front end issues on the AFX Turbo chassis. I like Tyco and as Andy knows they can be made a lot quicker!
We can get almost any common slot car part! We have friends in high places! Xtraction and Johnny lightening are remakes of the older Magnatraction and Thunderjet chassis. Not all parts are interchangeable. Pancake refers to the armature(motor) that Thunderjets and Magnatraction cars use. Armature spins horizontally. Others like the Turbo chassis are called inline motors.
Tyco 440(another inline motor) chassis will run similar to your Turbo chassis. There are lots of chassis to choose from but it all depends on the driving style you like? As you have already found out Magnet traction determines how much slide the chassis will have. I like Magnatraction chassis for more challenging driving.

What sort of arm does the 7.2 chassis have in it Andy?????Dan is the master of budget racer that can hold their own against big buck custom made chassis!!!!!
